Ken Cappie

Extended Bio & Credentials

Ken Cappie is an ICF-credentialed Professional Certified Coach (PCC), strategist, facilitator, and trusted advisor. He works with senior leaders, executive teams, organizations, and private clients navigating complexity, transition, and consequential decisions. His approach integrates systemic coaching, strategic advisory, facilitation, and organizational insight, helping people see the larger system they are operating within and move forward with greater clarity, alignment, and effectiveness.

Ken brings more than three decades of interdisciplinary experience across business, finance, real estate, investment, communications, research, the arts, culture, and organizational development. He is known for his ability to connect quickly and meaningfully with people, his natural ease in conversation, and a grounded, confident presence that creates the conditions for candid inquiry, thoughtful reflection, and beneficial action.

His early career was shaped by nearly eight years in the United States as a qualitative analyst, facilitator, and consultant. He worked with complex stakeholder groups across municipal, state, and Senate political campaigns, Fortune 500 branding and advertising initiatives, major labour organizations, healthcare institutions including Kaiser Permanente, and large-scale cultural redevelopment projects including the de Young Museum. This work developed an enduring capacity to synthesize complex qualitative and quantitative information, recognize patterns, understand competing perspectives, and facilitate conversations across diverse interests.

Returning to Canada, Ken moved into real estate, development, and investment, initially as a licensed realtor and subsequently deepening his expertise through UBC's Broker's Business Planning & Financial Management program, a Graduate Diploma in Urban Land Economics, and studies in structured project finance. His work has encompassed acquisitions and dispositions, strategic planning, joint ventures, portfolio analysis, risk reduction, corporate development, investment strategy, and value enhancement across public and private sectors.

This combination of strategic, financial, and human insight led to increasingly senior advisory roles, including work with private investment interests and, most notably, as a personal advisor to the CEO of a Swiss-Canadian family office. In that capacity, he supported economic and investment strategy alongside executive coaching—an experience that further shaped his understanding of the complex interplay between capital, leadership, family dynamics, identity, and long-term decision-making. He also served in leadership roles with the Urban Land Institute.

Alongside his business and advisory career, Ken has maintained a longstanding connection to the arts and cultural sector. With formal grounding in art history and contemporary art practices, he served as a Director with the San Francisco Symphony's Young Professionals program and as a Board Director with the Vancouver Biennale. He has participated in international art forums and institutions including Art Leaders Network, Art Basel, documenta, and the Venice Biennale. This engagement has informed his appreciation for the distinctive ecosystems in which creativity, culture, philanthropy, governance, and public life intersect.

In 2021, Ken deepened his focus on human development through a year-long Organizational Coaching program at the University of British Columbia. He subsequently returned to the program as a teaching assistant, further developing his coaching and facilitation practice and integrating formal coaching frameworks with his broader experience in strategy, organizational development, and group dynamics. He earned his ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential in 2025.

Today, Ken designs and delivers organizational coaching, team development, leadership programs, and facilitated group learning, alongside his one-to-one work with private clients, wealthy families and senior leaders. His practice is particularly suited to situations where the challenge is not simply technical or structural, but where relationships, competing perspectives, organizational culture, power, identity, or other less visible dynamics are influencing what is possible.

His work is informed by a deep personal interest in Jungian psychology and contemplative philosophy, including the work of Jiddu Krishnamurti, Advaita Vedanta, and non-dual inquiry, alongside a close interest in global affairs and the shifting geoeconomic landscape. Together, these perspectives contribute a depth-oriented and wider contextual lens to his work, particularly in exploring meaning, perception, identity, complexity, and change.

Ken brings seriousness to the work without taking himself too seriously. He is known for being personable, curious, funny, and dynamic, qualities that naturally carry into his relationships with clients and collaborators.

Ken works internationally, holding Canadian and Irish passports, as well as U.S. NEXUS status, allowing him to operate easily across multiple jurisdictions.
